Some of the colour films I scanned have a strange halftone-like pattern. Under a 10x loupe it's quite hard to make it out in detail but it resembles an LCD or CRT.
Here it us under a microscope. It's a stereo microscope so I was able to see that the blue layer is on the bottom, with green above it then red on top.
The dark splotch is part of the image. You can just make out the grainy structure within the stripes.
